Inclusion of Mehandi under Crop Insurance Scheme

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the agricultural crop of Mehandi is covered under the crop insurance scheme in the country; 

(b) if so, the details thereof; 

(c) if not, whether the Government is considering to include Mehandi crop under the crop insurance scheme; and 

(d) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE

(a) & (b): Crops under Crop Insurance Schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) & Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) are notified by the State Governments concerned subject to the conditions stipulated in the respective scheme. Mehandi, a perennial-aromatic and medicinal crop, can be covered under Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) by the State Government in consultation with empanelled insurance companies.

(c) & (d): Does not arise.
