(a) the number and details of NSDC affiliated courses and the number of STAR courses under them, State-wise;
(b) whether the enrolment in STAR courses or centres is higher than the other NSDC centres and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has taken any steps to improve the enrolment for non-STAR centres and courses and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER

(a) to (d) The STAR scheme, a Skill Certification and Reward Scheme was operational from August 2013 to September 2014. Under STAR scheme about 14 lakh persons were trained in training centres spreading over 35 States/UTs. Under STAR scheme training for 297 job roles across 19 sectors was imparted. A list of States/UTs wise enrolment/training and centres under STAR is at Annexure-I. On
the other hand, NSDC training partners have so far trained 40.90 lakh persons for training programmes other than PMKVY/UDAAN/STAR till 31st March, 2016. As on 31st March, 2016 National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has developed standards for 1661 job roles and has a total of 8197 centres across the country. A States/UTs wise list of NSDC training centres is at Annexure-II. Training enrolment under different programmes is done as per the targets laid out in the guidelines of the schemes/programmes. However, quality of training for both Government and Non-Government schemes/programmes by NSDC partners is ensured and in a number of training centres, training is imparted for both Government and NonGovernment schemes/programmes.
