(b) whether many State Governments have not been granted any assistance under this scheme for the development of sports in rural areas; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government for proper implementation of this scheme in all States?

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-
(a) the details about the financial allocation and number of panchayats benefited under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) for development of sports in rural areas;


(b) whether many State Governments have not been granted any assistance under this scheme for the development of sports in rural areas; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government for proper implementation of this scheme in all States?

(SHRI VIJAY GOEL)

(a) to (c) The Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) was being implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports from 2008-09 to 2013-14 for creation and maintenance of basic sports infrastructure at village and block panchayat level and holding of annual sports competitions to encourage mass participation in sports. All State Governments have been granted financial assistance under the PYKKA Scheme for development of sports in rural areas. State-wise details of funds released to States under the PYKKA Scheme is given in Annexure – I. Year-wise details of financial allocation under the PYKKA Scheme and details of playfields approved and developed during its currency is given in Annexure II.
