Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government proposes to launch a student tracking system “Shala Asmita Yojana” in all the schools in the country and if so, the details thereof including the salient features and objectives thereof;
(b) whether the Government has consulted the State Governments in this regard and if so, the details thereof and the response of the States thereto; and
(c) the time by which the final decision is likely to be taken in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 16, TO BE ANSWERED ON 18.07.2016, ASKED BY SHRI ADHALRAO PATIL SHIVAJIRAO AND SHRI SHRIRANG APPA BARNE, REGARDING SHALA ASMITA YOJANA.
(a) to (c): The National University of Educational and Planning and Administration (NUEPA) has been collecting annually the information on various educational indicators including enrolment of children through the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE). This has been upgraded to include the student-wise information from 2016-17 to enable tracking of a student in all the schools in the country. To support this framework, an online web enabled database has been envisaged to capture data on schools, teachers and students. The collection of child wise data for tracking of students has been discussed with the representatives of States and UTs during the Project Approval Board meetings to approve the Annual Work Plan and Budgets (AWP&B) under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
