The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India have accorded General approval under Section 2 of Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 to expedite the forest clearances for taking up border infrastructure works:-

F. No.-11-246/2014-FC dated 21st December, 2017Indo-Bhutan & Indo-Myanmar BordersWithin 16 Kms of aerial distance from the respective International Borders
Indo- Nepal BorderWithin 15 Kms of aerial distance from the International Border
All other Borders including Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan BordersWithin 05 Kms of aerial distance from International Borders


The above measures taken by Government of India have substantially contributed in reducing the delays with regard to environmental clearances. India’s national security is not at stake on Indo-China Border.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
