Shri Nitin Gadkari to Inaugurate and Lay Foundation Stones for Road and Namami Gange Projects in Western Uttar Pradesh Tomorrow

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 510 km length of NH works amounting to Rs 5094 crore in Moradabad, Meerut and Baghpat in Western Uttar Pradesh tomorrow. He will also lay the foundation for several projects under Namami Gange at these places. He will be accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
At Moradabad, the Minister will inaugurate the 146 km long two-lane with paved shoulders Aligarh to Moradabad NH-93 built at a cost of Rs 645 crore, and will lay the foundation stone for the 100 km long six-lane Hapur Bypass to Moradabad section of NH-24 to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2141 crore.
At Meerut, he will lay the foundation stone for three projects. These are: the 88 km long four-lane Meerut-Budhana-Shamli-UP/Haryana Border (Karnal) section of NH-709A to be built at a cost of Rs 708 crore, the 54 km long four-lane Meerut-Najeebabad section of NH-119 at a cost of Rs 1022 crore, and construction of additional facilities on 78 km long Meerut-Muzaffarnagar section of NH at a cost of Rs 207 crore.
At Baghpat, Shri Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for the construction of 44 km long two-lane with paved shoulders Meerut-Baghpat-UP/Haryana Border (Sonipat) section of NH-334B to be built at a cost of Rs 371 crore.
Shri Gadkari will also initiate the development of sewage treatment projects under Namami Gange programme at these places. At Moradabad, which is famous for its brass handicrafts industry, the sewerage system and 58 MLD STP are under construction for Zone-I of the town at an estimated cost of Rs 279.91 crore. For sewerage Zone-II, STP and I&D project is proposed at a total cost of Rs 118.69 crore including 15 years of O&M cost. This project for Zone-II envisages tapping four drains, laying of conveyance system for these drains, construction of IPS, MPS and STP. The project will lead to cleaning of River Ramganga.
In Meerut, the programme for pollution abatement of Kali river has been sanctioned with total estimated cost of Rs. 1039.06 crore. The river has been polluted significantly due to discharge of untreated/ or partially treated sewage disposed off through three drains. The proposed project includes construction of 2 I&D structures., rising main & I&D network, 1 new MPS, construction of new STP of 200 MLD capacity, and 14 MLD treatment capacity decentralized treatment/geosynthetic dewatering tube/ enhancement primary coagulation or any other treatment methods qualifying the regulatory norms. The project, to be implemented within 24 months, includes 15 years O&M. It is being taken at a cost of Rs 681.78 crore (Capital Cost - Rs. 41.38 crore; O&M Cost - Rs. 35.98 crore).
At Baghpat, which lies along River Yamuna, it is proposed for Interception & Diversion of four drains falling into river Yamuna by laying of intercepting trunk sewer of length 2.52 km and treating sewage at 14 MLD STP. The project to be implemented within 18 months, includes 15 years O&M. It is being taken up at a cost of Rs 77.36 crore (Capital Cost - Rs. 41.38 crore; O&M Cost - Rs. 35.98 crore).
