STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *471 TO BE ANSWERED ON 25.07.2019 REGARDING “KHELO INDIA SCHEME’ ASKED BY SHRI MARGANI BHARAT AND SHRI ADALA PRABHAKARA REDDY, HON’BLE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT, LOK SABHA.
(a) Yes Sir, the Khelo India Scheme is being implemented for the entire country.
(b) State-wise details of infrastructure projects sanctioned, funds released, talents identified, academies accredited and Sports Authority of India (SAI) Khelo India Centres under Khelo India scheme are given in Annexure – I, Annexure- II , Annexure – III, Annexure - IV and Annexure - V respectively.
(c) and (d) “Sports” being a State subject the responsibility of promotion of sports, including in Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, rests with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Central Government is supplementing the effors of the State Government. While the Khelo India Scheme is not district specific, athletes from across the country, including from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, are eligible to participate in Khelo India Games and benefit through training facilities and sports infrastructure set up by State/Central Government.
