राज्य सभा में बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढाओ योजना के विकास पर पूछे गए सवाल का जवाब देते हुए केंद्र सरकार की प्रतिनिधित्व करते हुए महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री ने कहा कि "बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढाओ योजना" का उद्येश्य बेटियों के महत्व से समाज को अवगत कराना, ताकि उनको उनका हक़ मिल सके और वो भी पढ़ लिख कर अपना दायित्व का निर्वहन अच्छी तरह से कर सकें. बेटियों का महत्व समझ कर उनका जो भ्रूण हत्या किया जाता है उसे रोका जा सके. इस योजना के लिए सरकार ने राज्य-वार निधि आबंटित की है ताकि लोगो को इस योजना के बारे में समझा सकें और उसका लाभ पहुंचा सकें.
इस योजना का प्रभाव बाललिंगानुपात पर पड़ा है, 2014-15 में बाललिंगानुपात जो 918 थी वो 2019-20 में बढ़कर 934 हो गया.

Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, districts selected/covered and the Child Sex Ratio (CSR) thereunder along with the funds allocated, released and utilized under the scheme during each of the last five years and the current year, State/UT-wise and year-wise;
(b) the details of expenditure incurred on advertisement of the BBBP Scheme,year-wise;
(c) Whether Government has made any impact assessment of the scheme, if so, the details and the outcome thereof;and
(d) the details of Child Sex Ratio at present and the sex ratio before the year 2014 State/UTwise?

(a) Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme addresses the issues relating to declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and aims to change the mindset of people so as to make them appreciate the value of girl child. It is a tri-ministerial, convergent effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare and Human Resource Development. The State-wise districts covered and the Child Sex Ratio (CSR) (as per Census 2011) thereunder is at AnnexureI. State/UT-wise funds allocated/ released and utilizedunder the scheme during last five years and the current year is at AnnexureII.
(b) The details of expenditure on advertisement of the BBBP Scheme, year-wise is asunder:
c) Evaluation of BBBP scheme carried out by National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), August, 2020 has indicated a positive behavioural change towards the value of girl child.
(d) Sex Ratio at Birth (as per Health Management Information System of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) has been set as a parameter for monitoring the progress of this Scheme. Sex Ratio at Birth has shown an improving of 16 points at National level from 918 (2014-15) to 934(2019-20).
The State/UT wise Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 is at Annexure III.
