ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION
(SHRI BABUL SUPRIYO)

(a) & (b): State-wise and City-wise details of project proposals, as on 03.03.2016, for construction of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) houses accepted for Central assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Housing for All (Urban) Mission are at Annexure.

(c): Financial resources required under the Mission will vary as the Scheme progresses and will be met through Central assistance and shares of State/Urban Local Body /Beneficiary.

(d): The EWS houses having carpet area of upto 30 sq. m. and LIG houses having carpet area of upto 60 sq. m. are eligible for central assistance under the various components of the Mission. States/UTs, however, have the flexibility in terms of determining the size of house and other facilities at the state level in consultation with the Ministry but without any enhanced financial assistance from Centre. As the projects under the Mission are undertaken by the States/UTs, the cost of construction of dwelling units and the beneficiary share, therefore, vary from State to State.

(e): Land and colonisation are State subjects, proposals of States in this Ministry are considered for sanctioning admissible central assistance for the projects approved at State Level. As the projects under the Mission are undertaken by the States/UTs, pace of construction of houses under the Mission, therefore, varies from State to State.

(f): The PMAY-HFA (U) Mission, launched on 25.6.2015, already envisions housing for all by 2022. Further, a Technology Sub-Mission has been set up in partnership with IITs, NITs and Planning & Architecture Institutes for adoption of modern, innovative, disaster-resistant and green technologies & materials.
