(d) the additional measures adopted/likely to be taken by the Government for the benefit of Indian workers abroad, particularly in Middle East under this scheme?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
[GEN. (DR) V. K. SINGH (RETD)]

(a) to (d) Being a voluntary scheme, the subscription under the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana (MGPSY) scheme is very low. The scheme has not picked up for a variety of reasons. The Government is in the process of revamping the scheme in consultation with the stakeholders, in order to explore different possibilities to make the scheme suitable and attractive to the overseas Indian workers. We are obtaining inputs of the Indian Missions in Gulf Countries on how the scheme can be revamped.
