Multiple Tax Slabs under GST

(a) whether the Government has decided to set multiple tax slabs under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has received any complaint against such setting of multiple tax slabs under the GST; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government thereon?

Multiple Tax Slabs under GST

Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government has decided to set multiple tax slabs under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has received any complaint against such setting of multiple tax slabs under the GST; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government thereon?

ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE
(SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR)

(a): Yes madam. GST rates of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% have been prescribed. These rates have been notified by the Centre and States, based on the recommendations of the GST Council.
(b) & (c): Representations have been received against multiple rates. These multiple rates have been prescribed based on the recommendation of the GST Council, inter alia, keeping in view the pre GST tax incidence.
