(a) whether the Government proposes to set up medical colleges under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in various districts of the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the criteria and norms for selecting districts under the above said scheme for setting up medical colleges;

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to set up medical colleges under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in various districts of the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the criteria and norms for selecting districts under the above said scheme for setting up medical colleges;
(c) whether the Government of Chhattisgarh has sent any proposal in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the action taken by the Union Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are being set up in different states of the country as per the budget announcements.
The selection of site, out of the sites offered by the concerned State Government for the new AIIMS, announced in budget for the State, is made through criteria adopted under challenge method (Annexure).
(c) & (d): No, an AIIMS has already been set up in Raipur, Chhattisgarh under PMSSY and is functional.
