Houses to SCs/STs under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
In the reply of questions raised in Loksabha regarding Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Hon'ble Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri stated that The State is required to submit project proposals under PMAY (U) to cover all the eligible beneficiaries in the Urban Areas. In order to achieve the goal of ‘Housing for All’ by the year 2022, States/UTs have been requested to strategize fast tracking in submission of project proposal to cover the remaining beneficiaries well in time.

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-

(a) the number of homes allotted to people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana in Palghar, Maharashtra sofar;and

(b) details of the future plan in this regard?

ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS

(SHRI HARDEEP SINGH PURI)

(a) In Palghar City of Maharashtra, one Beneficiary-Led individual house construction (BLC) Project covering 32 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) beneficiaries and one Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) Project for 9,176 EWS houses have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) {PMAY(U). The beneficiaries in the BLC project include 2 Scheduled Castes and 23 Scheduled Tribes. For the AHP project, the State Government is required to identify the eligible beneficiaries before claiming the 2nd installment of Central Assistance.

(b) The State is required to submit project proposals under PMAY (U) to cover all the eligible beneficiaries in the Urban Areas. In order to achieve the goal of ‘Housing for All’ by the year 2022, States/UTs have been requested to strategize fast tracking in submission of project proposal to cover the remaining beneficiaries well in time.
